SUITLAND, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police are investigating a residential armed robbery in Suitland that left one of the suspects dead Friday night.
Prince George's County Police said officers responded to the 2600 block of Shadyside Avenue for a residential robbery and shooting that happened at 7:15 p.m.
Police said 26-year-old Dexter John Manigault of NE Washington was killed during the incident. Two additional suspects connected to the robbery were arrested: 19-year-old Daquawn Lubin of Arlington, Va. and 27-year-old Michael William Hall of SE Washington.
Investigation shows that two armed and masked men forced their way into the victims' apartment and tried to rob them at gunpoint. Authorities said during the robbery, one of the residents started fighting with Manigault over his gun.
During the struggle Manigault was shot, police said. Manigault and the other suspect, Hall ran out of the apartment and into a getaway car, police said.
The three men drove to a firehouse in NE Washington to get help for Manigualt, who later died at the hospital.
Authorities are looking into the possibility of the robbery being drug related.
Both Lubin and Hall are facing charges related to the robbery. They are in custody in the District awaiting extradition to Prince George's County, authorities said.
The residents are cooperating with detectives. No criminal charges related to the shooting are being placed at this time, according to police.
