The 2011 Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show kicked off the start of the two day celebration of food, fun, entertaining and service by honoring 2,500 Military spouses including the Wounded Warriors and Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan spouses through their specially supported and funded “Operation Home Cooking”.

(Pentagon City) to promote their new cookbook “The Neelys’ Celebration Cookbook: Down Home Meals For Every Occasion”. I had a chance to chat with Pat and Gina Neely about their new cookbook, new restaurant in New York and their favorite holiday recipes and eats.

Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center kicks off  the fall season with the announcement of its newest premier outdoor waterfront venue,  RiverView Terrace,  slated to open in Spring 2012.

“We are thrilled to see the construction of RiverView Terrace rapidly underway,” said Phil Coffey, Gaylord National's Senior Vice President and General Manager.  “The transformation of one of our prime outdoor areas will allow us to further set the standard for unique events in the Washington region and deliver an unparalleled experience for social gatherings.”

Giving Thanks and Giving Back: 2011 Horton Kids Cocktails and Crooners

November 3, 2011-- Washington, DC.  Thursday night in Washington was all about giving back and giving thanks at the House of Sweden at the "Horton's Kids 2011 Give Thanks Give Back Fundraiser:  Cocktails & Crooners" in Georgetown.  It’s held each year to thank the many volunteer tutors, mentors, board members, and supporters who help enrich the lives of kids that reside in Ward 8 in Washington.

Horton’s Kids is a 501(c)3 mission is to educate and empower the children of Washington, DC’s Ward 8 by providing comprehensive, direct services which improve the quality of their daily lives and nurture their desire and ability to succeed. These services include tutoring and mentoring along with a host of other wrap around services benefiting children the Anacostia neighborhood.
