Tens of Thousands of Teens to Attend the Youth Rally and Mass for Life

From Brie Hall: For the second year in a row, the annual Youth Rally and Mass for Life will be held at two arenas in Washington due to the overwhelming demand to attend. More than 28,000 Catholic teens and young adults from around the world will pack the Verizon Center and the D.C. Armory for this moving and inspirational event. Media are welcome at the Verizon Center. The Youth Rally and Mass for Life mark the anniversary of the 1973 Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion in the United States.

 

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer In D.C. Celebrates 10th Anniversary

On Saturday, February 4, members of the Washington, D.C. community will come together to mark the 10th Anniversary of the national Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Series and to jump-start the 2012 season with a birthday party!  In tandem with the other eight cities hosting a Walk in 2012, the birthday celebration will be a time to reflect on the overwhelming achievements that the citizens of Washington, D.C. have contributed to breast cancer research over the past decade.                      

The party will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Launch Zone Presents Holidays Around The World: Pancha Ganapati

 

The following information was sent to us by National Harbor's the Launch Zone:

On Saturday, December 31, from 11 am to 4 pm,  the Launch Zone is celebrating winter holidays around the world.  Come in and learn all about Pancha Ganapati, a Hindu festival celebrating Ganesa. The festival focuses on love, harmony, and the importance of a new beginning. Kids can make traditional greeting cards decorated with Hindu art and verses, as well as participate in activities focusing on the holiday’s values.  Additionally, in honor of the fourth day of Pancha Ganapati (celebrating the arts), be sure to stop in at noon for a special variety show performance by students from Fran's Dance Studio!
