PGCPS Teacher of the Year Reception

The Prince George's County Board of Education, along with the Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), will announce the 2011 Prince George's County Teacher of the Year at its annual reception on Wednesday, April 27. The selected candidate, out of twenty nominees, will go on to compete with representatives from all other jurisdictions in the State of Maryland for the prestigious Maryland Teacher of the Year Award.

Third Annual Poetry Open Mic

Thomas Johnson MS will celebrate National Poetry Month with a poetry slam where students will have the opportunity to share their poetry writings.

Special Olympics Challenge Day

Challenge Day is designed to provide an opportunity for students with severe or multiple disabilities to demonstrate their personal best. The program is part of the Special Olympics Motor Activities Training Program (MATP) that emphasizes training and participation rather than competition.

Students and Staff Build School Garden

Vansville Elementary School • 6813 Ammendale Road, Beltsville
Students and staff of Vansville ES will build a garden to help students understand the importance of plants, as well as how they can plant and grow their own vegetables. The garden will also be used as a tool to integrate school subjects such as science and math.
