Mentoring To Manhood Honors James McClelland At Men Who Make The Difference Celebration

With a mission to instill effective leadership and social responsibility in young men ages 12-18 in the Prince George’s County area, Mentoring to Manhood is extending their community efforts by recognizing local men who work to positively impact our youth.

This year’s Men Who Make the Difference Celebration will be held on November 15, 2012 from 6:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Martin’s Camelot, 13905 Central Avenue, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774.

One of the honorees is Mr. James McClelland.  Mr. McClelland is a CPA at Fannie Mae.  However, his greatest calling may be mentoring.  Over the years he has mentored youth involved in the National Association for Black Accountants, the Abramson Scholarship Foundation, and the Leadership Development Institute of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc..  He builds lasting relationships with his mentees, helps them pay for school books, improve their class grades, and teach them life lessons that go beyond their college years.  As one of his mentees relayed, “Being raised with my eight siblings by a single mother in a crime and drug infested neighborhood, my aspirations and goals in life were non existent.  James changed that diluted view and helped me see that no obstacle is insurmountable with hard work and dedication.”

The Men Who Make the Difference Celebration will also honor:

  • Rushern Baker, Prince George’s County Executive
  • Darryl Barnes, Men Aiming Higher Inc. Founder
  • Marcus Johnson, National Jazz Recording Artist
  • Therman Evans, Jr., Speechwriter, National Education Association/M2M Board Chair

Join Mentoring to Manhood as they celebrate these leading men in our community at their annual Men Who Make the Difference Celebration. Tickets for this extraordinary event are on sale now at www.m2minc.org.
