Children Found Wandering Street; Va. Mother Arrested

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- Two children were found wandering in a neighborhood in Manassas on Friday morning, Prince William County Police said in a news release. 

The mother, Esmeralda Carolina Acosta Montoya, 28, of Manassas, was arrested about 45 minutes after police were notified that the kids were missing, police said. 

It happened at around 10:28 a.m., when a person called police, informing them that the caller had found the two children wandering, police said. 

"The caller located two children, a 3 year old girl and 5 year old boy, walking the area above unsupervised. The caller took the children to nearby Westgate Elementary School where police were notified. The investigation revealed that the accused had left the children in a locked room of the residence while she was gone for about for two hours," police said. 

Charged with two counts of felony child endangerment and she has been released on a $4,500 bond. 

Huge Turnout In PG Co. Town Hall Meeting On Violence

SUITLAND, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police may have made a recent arrest for the murder of a Prince George's County teen, but people who live in the county say they want to stop the violence before it starts.

Radio One of Washington DC (93.9 WKYS, Majic 102.3, Praise 104.1, WOL 1450 AM and WYCB 1340) held a "State of Emergency" Town Hall meeting Monday night at the Suitland Recreation Center.

An estimated 350 people streamed in throughout the night to talk about solutions, in the wake of six unrelated murders of Prince George's County public school students. 

The event was hosted by 93.9 WKYS personalities Angie Ange and Anwan Glover. The panel included several Prince George's County community leaders including representatives including, County Executive Rushern Baker's office, Police Chief Mark Magaw, and State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks. 

5 Arrested In Prince George's Teen's Murder

SUITLAND, Md. (WUSA9) -- Five people have been arrested in the murder of a 15-year-old in Prince George's County, police said. 

Derryck Antonio Green, 20, of Alexandria, Jermani Maurice Whitner, 18, of Temple Hills, Glenn Cornell Leach, 23 of Washington, Tayvon Delonte Williams, 21, of Oxon Hill and Kevin J. Smith, 21 of Temple Hills, have all been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Charles Walker, 15, of Suitland, police said. 

The motive was robbery on the night of February 18, in Hillcrest Heights, police said. 

The robbery was over a pair of shoes, Prince George's County Police Chief Mark Magaw said.

During a press conference, Chief Magaw said the teen was walking with a bag that contained new shoes when he was robbed and killed on Monday.

Police say officers responded to the 4000 block of 28th Avenue, near Kenton Street for a welfare check call. 

2nd Victim Dies In PG County Shooting

FORESTVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- A second victim of a Tuesday shooting in Forestville died on Wednesday, police said. 

Andre Walter Shuford, 18, of Forestville was pronounced dead on Wednesday after being listed in grave condition, police said. 

The shooting happened at 5:35 pm, on the 3700 block of Donnell Drive on Tuesday, police said. 

Two men were shot and killed in the incident, 18 year-old Aaron Burrell Kidd of the 3600 block of Melrose Avenue in District Heights, was the other victim in the shooting. He was a 9th-grader at Suitland High School, police said. 

"At this point, there is no indication that this crime is connected to the murder of Charles Walker, Jr.," police said.
