SUITLAND, Md. (WUSA9) -- A woman was sexually assaulted Monday while police say she slept on her couch in Suitland.
Prince George's County police spent Wednesday night going door to door at a Suitland apartment complex trying to gather information. Police say the suspect broke into one of the apartments wearing a mask at 4:30 in the afternoon.
Abby Desta was working Monday afternoon. Until Wednesday night, she didn't know that a woman was sexually assaulted in the apartment complex where she lives.
"I have never heard something like this. Right now, I'm totally shaky and scared and I have to leave," said Desta.
Police say the woman who was assaulted was inside, asleep on the couch.
"He had a handgun. He woke her up and he sexually assaulted her," said Pfc. Michael Owen, Spokesman Prince George's Police Department.
